POK FU LAM, HONG KONG – The residential village known as Pok Fu Lam, sits amidst the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong Island in the valley between Victoria Peak and Mount Kellet. Pok Fu Lam Village is a historic village dated as far back as the 17th century, featuring structures like an octagonal cowshed and a two-storey staff house that were a part of the city’s largest dairy farm. However, like many historic sites around the world, the 150-year old Pok Fu Lam village has been threatened by Hong Kong’s rapid development. And like the traditional villages or small towns around the world, their population continues to shrink as more and more of the younger residents prefer the modern city.
