DAVID WOO, Cinematographer | Documentary Filmmaker – David is a visual storyteller with nearly 15 years of international experience, with work spanning cultures and communities across Asia, U.S. and the Kingdom of Hawai‘i. He began his career in documentary filmmaking and photojournalism before expanding into narrative and commercial cinematography. His work continues to be shaped from his documentary experiences, focusing on human stories and the subtle rhythms of everyday life.

Early influences such as James Nachtwey, Ami Vitale, and Sebastião Salgado showed him that images can hold both aesthetic beauty and moral weight. That belief continues to guide his work. David sees visual storytelling as existing at the intersection of art and responsibility, a bridge between purpose and impact.

Passionate about the power of storytelling that fosters compassion and responsibility, David collaborates with nonprofits, mission-driven organizations, and purpose-led brands to create films that are both visually compelling and ethically grounded.

David was a member of the National Press Photographers Association, Hawaii Filmmakers Collective (HFC), Film Independent, ASC Vision Mentorship program (2022), and ASC Masterclass (2022). He is currently a member of the Asian American Documentary Network (A-Doc), International Documentary Association (IDA), and The Video Consortium (VC).
